Celebrations and Travel
China is a large coutry with a long history. Adoptees were born and adopted from many different parts of the country, although some of the earliest adoptees came from the larger and more well off provinces in the south and eastern parts of the country. There are no statistics to say how many of the 85,000 children adopted from China in the U.S. have traveled back, but it is not uncommon. Most adoptees visit the province of their birth and some visit the orphanage that cared for them. Many also visit the famous cities and sites throughout the country.
Chinese culture has many festive holidays, and joining in a holiday celebration is one of the most fun ways of connecting to a culture. Chinese New Year is probably the most famous Chinese holiday and is celebrated around the world.
