Winter is 19 years old. She was adopted from China as a baby by her mother and father, and grew up in Ithaca, NY. She currently attends Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT where she is thinking about majoring in sociology.  Winter talked about some negative sides of adoption, for example how the media portrays adoption as something that is a second option for some people. She talked about how adoption is a joke to some people, how they make comments like ‘Oh your brother must be adopted’ even when he wasn’t. She also talked about the media seems to fall back on stereotypes about adoption and adoptive families.
